How to Make Cupcakes – The Basics
Posted In: How to Make Cupcakes by adminPersonally, the best cupcakes I have ever tasted are those that were made at home, not from those high-profile bakeries that increase the price of their cupcakes just because they have become “trendy”. For me, nothing spoils the enjoyment of cupcakes more than knowing that I had to pay a ridiculous amount just for one mini-cake!
Most people I know who have the slightest passion for baking learned how to make cupcakes as one of their first endeavors in baking. Here they perfected just how much sugar should be added to the cupcake batter so it wouldn’t be to sweet or to bland. Despite all the work, they seemed to enjoy themselves while making them too! So I thought, why not try making cupcakes for myself? I resolved to do it the “hard way”, not utilizing a cake mix sold at all grocery stores.
For a first-timer, my attempt was, well, passable. I had an insane amount of mess to clean up, because my batter overflowed and I had too much fun mixing frosting and icing my creation. But it was all worth it. At least now I can say I have some experience in baking.
Basically, if you want to know how to make cupcakes, prepare your kitchen, prepare your tools, and don’t forget to have fun and be creative with the frosting. The most basic cupcakes contains only butter, confectioner’s sugar, flour (preferably the self-raising ones), vanilla,and eggs. All the rest are tasty additions to make your cupcakes stand out. The proportions are up to you, so I highly encourage you to experiment. As for tools, you will need a bowl, a mixer, an oven, a cupcake pan, cupcake papers, a spatula and a spoon.
Keep in mind one important rule when learning how to make cupcakes; don’t over mix the batter or you will get a tough cupcake. An undesireable result after all your hard work. Have fun and happy baking!!
